ON-SITE & BESPOKE TRAINING

FOR DATA SCIENTISTS, PRODUCT OWNERS AND ANALYTICS TRANSLATORS

My colleagues and I have developed a series of training modules covering business skills most relevant for data scientists and analytics translators.

Based on a combination of theory, best practice and years of industry experience, I developed these in collaboration with professional peers and with colleagues at the University of Amsterdam Business School.

I have given these both at the university and as private training for staff from dozens of companies around the world.

Modules for In-House Trainings

Storytelling with Data

Visual and Oral Communication

Covers important principles for most effectively communicating analytic insights through proper formulation of message, construction of visuals, and in-person delivery (when appropriate). Very few analysts get these principles right without training, and the result is a dulling of the business impact of their efforts

Setting Expectations and Building Trust

Stakeholder Management

We cover the processes of establishing and managing of stakeholder expectations and discuss how to continue execution and delivery of projects in a way that builds trust

Determining the Right Business Questions

Strategic and Tactical Insights

We cover principles, frameworks and case studies focused on how to choose data science projects best suited to a particular organization and with the greatest chance of success in the current environment.

Business Statistics

Overview for Analytics Translators

Slightly more technical than the other trainings, this one day course reviews basic principles of descriptive and inferential statistics, with a focus on how these are used in business environments and how they relate to the broader concept of Machine Learning.

This module take a full day and can be covered with or without examples and exercises in python.

The Organization

Inter-Departmental Collaboration

Understanding the business organization and key stakeholders surrounding the data scientists.  We also discuss the place of analytics within the broader organization and how to develop solutions in a manner that maximizes their ability to deliver final business value.

Working in Multi-Cultural Environments

Hofstede Method

This module provides an overview and specific examples of cultural dimensions and discusses how they can impact the data scientists’ work within an organization

Running Data Science Projects

Maximizing Likelihood of Success

Once projects have been initiated, there is a long road leading to successful delivery, followed by an extended process of maintaining and improving deployments.
